I'm not sure which to buy first for solo PvPing. What ship do you think is best for this role: Machariel, Vargur, Panther, or Sin?

Depends. What are your skills like? How do you like to fight i.e close range, long range, going omgwtfbbq m/s? Are you willing to spend 600m on a black ops ship when their T1 counterparts can do everything apart from the jumping and cloaking equally well?
I prefer close range because I can web and scramble.
Cloaking sounds good because you can sneak up on people and web/scram them quick. I'm not sure a Machariel would get there quick enough.
Also, when the prey scans the system, they won't know there is a black ops around.

Agreed. As soon as someone clicks "scan" the race is on. Jump into Amamake or some such system with one of those >10k from a gate or station for more than 2 minutes.
So what do you use? A Vagabond to get away quick? But surely the point of the Black Ops is that you can decloak when the time is right?

I think I'll choose the Panther. I like the idea of sneaking about like a U-boat commander!

I've just realised Black Ops can't fit covert ops cloaks.
Suddenly, I'm not so interested in Black Ops any more.

either nano or double rep it. spend about 4 bil either way, one can sit there and tank 4 or 5 bs the other can go 10k a sec.
pick whichever style of flying you like, and if you arent experienced enough with the ship beforehand then buy a couple tempests and try them out first to get the hang of flying it.
I think I'll do this!

Providing you can still fit 100MN MWD's to command ships the Sleipnir can double that Speed. Also - it has no tanking ship bonus so I completely fail to see how this ship would be massively superior to a Tempest in terms of tanking - it has 1 more low slot and 2500 more armour??? So it comes down to the old 4 billion on any BS is going to be extremely hard to *****.
EDIT: what the **** - this forum sensors the word 'crac.k'???
According to Eve Fitting tool, you can still fit a 100mn MWD on a Sleipnir.
However, the align time becomes 30 seconds.
I think this means the mass of the MWD has been made much larger, so the Sleipnir would turn like a petrol tanker and accelerate to maximum speed really slowly.
So basically, it's been nerfed!

Originally by: Rixsta NanoMach is the best of the bunch... but personally i'd keep it simple and go with a Nanophoon. If you're willing to pimp it slightly i.e. polycarbs + faction propulsion mods you'll probably be on par with a Nanomach... i.e. a bonus to Siege launchers / Cruise Launchers and a more flexible drone bay (as well as slightly lower sig radius). You lose out on pure hitpoints / speed / mid slots, but for what you save an awful lot in ISK meaning you won't be crying when you do eventually lose it, which you WILL solo.
Just as a note will you be completely solo, or have you got an alt scout?
Most of the time I fly solo because I normally play for only half-an-hour each time. I don't use alts.
Therefore, I'm thinking of "playing safe" with a Rapier for a while until I get the hang of things.

No wonder eve hates u more than BoB, u start a thread about what fancy bs to use and then u say u're gonna use rapier. Damnit, one more machariel pilot that won't get ransomed
I would like to pilot a Machariel, but it should take me 6-months to have the skill points to do it well.
Until then, I'm 2-months away from a Vagabond/Rapier - the experience of flying these should be useful.
By the way, why do so many dislike BRUCE these days A few weeks ago everone liked us except pirates. Has everyone gone pirate, or what?!
